Our Patriot Ancestors
Listed below are the Patriot ancestors of the Aurantia Chapter, NSDAR, members, the state they served, and their type of service. With a few exceptions, military service began with the Battle of Lexington (19 April 1775) and ended when the British evacuated New York (26 November 1783). American Revolutionary War Patriots include those with:
Military Service—as members of local and state militias or as members of the Continental Army or Navy
Civil Service (CS)—as men elected or appointed as officials who performed an administrative or official duty supporting the local, patriotic government
Patriotic Service (PS)—as signers of the Declaration of Independence, committee members, those who took oaths of loyalty, and men and women who rendered other types of aid (money or goods and services) to the cause of independence.
